Instagram post 18011613430300464 20 years ago skincare used to be a 3 step programme. Cleanse. Tone. Moisturise. The beauty industry has changed a lot since then and people are finding skincare confusing. Don't worry I will do my best to explain. ⠀
⠀
1. Cleanser - always cleanse your skin especially at night, they remove dirt, grease, makeup and impurities.⠀
⠀
2. Exfoliator - use 2 or 3 times a week, I do like a gentle scrub but I see better results on clients when they use AHA's (alpha hydroxy acid) which come from fruits.⠀
⠀
3. Toner - after your cleanser, to remove any left over residue on the skin.⠀
⠀
4. Serum - these are lightweight moisturisers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin.⠀
⠀
5. Eye products - I was never a believer in eye creams until I started using Tropic Duo, I have used it for about 9 months and can see a difference in my crows feet. ⠀
⠀
7. Moisturiser - locks in moisture and all the other skincare products you have just applied.⠀
⠀
8. SPF - if this is your morning routine, SPF goes on last. ⠀
⠀
9. Oils - depending on your skin type, I prefer to use an oil at night with my gua sha or face massage (do not put on after SPF) ⠀
⠀
If you have more products than this list then the rule to use is lightest products first!⠀
⠀
Do you do this order? let me know.

Instagram post 17854818169812275 Something I have experienced and I am seeing more regularly, are people believing they are ugly because of acne or large pores. ⠀
⠀
It took me years to finally heal my acne and it wasn't just 1 thing I did, it was a process which led me down a whole new path. ⠀
⠀
Saying I am thankful for experiencing acne is easy to say now I don't have it, I would have screamed if somebody had said that to me at the time. ⠀
Having such severe acne stopped me going out sometimes, I would be very upset and disgusted with my skin, I felt ugly. I used A LOT of heavy makeup to cover my skin, and I would spend A LOT of time analysing my face in the mirror. ⠀
⠀
Recently, I came across a disorder called "Acne Dysmorphia" this is when a person believes their skin is much worse than it is, causing them anxiety, making them feel ugly, comparing themselves to others, believing people are thinking they look bad, avoiding social situations and using heavy makeup.⠀
⠀
If this feels like you then seeking professional help from a psychologist is the first step in your recovery. It is important to not let your skin effect your mental health. Once you feel better then you can address your skin and work out a plan to support you.

Instagram post 17917652173372474 Yarrow is one of my new favourite herbs, I was introduced to it by @mugwortdreamer in a workshop last year! ⠀
⠀
From the first moment I tasted yarrow in tea form, I knew it was doing me good and that this was a herb I needed to start using regularly. ⠀
⠀
I now add yarrow to my facial steamer because it’s good for all skin types, it gives off the most incredible delicious scent, whilst opening the pores, being anti bacterial and anti inflammatory means it’s great for acne. ⠀
⠀
Yarrow is also great for the immune system, for blood and circulation, being an astringent, it makes the muscles, tissues and blood vessels contract which is great for anti ageing too. ⠀

Instagram post 17905901275402588 Looking back on what has been a year of snakes 🐍 and ladders!
I have experienced such growth in my business and personal life.
But, my personal life has been very tough, I had very toxic people around me! Telling me I was nothing, a failure, fat, and stupid. I had to dig deep as to why I was allowing this in.
The love for my family and friends has grown immensely! I get so much support and kindness, a special thanks to my dear friend @ellieseilern who took me to Cornwall and gave me all the nurturing I needed to feel like me again! I have many others to thank too but they don’t use social media, yes.. those people do exist 😆

Business wise, I’ve completed all the study I wanted to do before 2020! A turning point was the advanced training in Gua Sha & herbal poultice with @cecilybraden a woman I find inspirational. This facial has changed how I look at skin!
Moving my business to Redhed in Fitzrovia is in the best place it’s ever been! I just adore all the people that work there. The area is just superb.
So surprisingly, I do feel quite proud of myself and what I have achieved at the close of the year! and I’m excited to build on this and see what’s in store for me going forward! I am hoping I’ll be more focused on videos and Instagram again, this year has been challenging for me and I tend to go inwards and be introverted while I recover.
What are your thoughts on 2019? And 2020? And Happy new year 🥳
I am back to the Facial Goddess head quarters on Thursday 💗

Instagram post 17858620777608278 It is International Men’s Day today! ⠀
⠀
“A day to celebrate positive male role models and to raise awareness of men’s issues which are often overlooked.⠀
⠀
These include areas like mental health, toxic masculinity and the prevalence of male suicide.⠀
⠀
International Men’s Day coincides with Movember, when men grow their facial hair in an effort to promote conversations about men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.⠀
⠀
On its official website, the event states that the day is a “focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models”.⠀
⠀
It adds: “International Men’s Day is an opportunity for people everywhere of goodwill to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives and the contribution they make to society for the greater good of all.”⠀
⠀
The day is also “a platform to raise awareness to the challenges that men face in life – especially in relation to the international male suicide rate”. ⠀
The Sun.⠀
⠀
I have lost two close male friends to suicide, they were both kind, funny, and intelligent. I think about them often, I don’t think they knew how much they were loved and appreciated.

Instagram post 17851902313662383 Goddess Danu.⠀
⠀
I couldn't find a nice picture of how I imagined her so this image is a great representation of this earth goddess. Feeling quite connected to my Irish roots, since my genetic test said I’m 78% Irish/English. ⠀
⠀
Danu is the most ancient of the Celtic gods. She was referred to as the mother of the Irish gods, which indicates that she was a mother goddess. In this guise she probably represented the earth and its fruitfulness. ⠀
⠀
The mist in Ireland is thought to be the loving embrace of Danu herself. She is seen as having influenced and nurtured the broken people 'Tuatha De Danaan' back to strength, and imparting magic and esoteric wisdom to them. ⠀
⠀
The Tuatha Dé Danaan are the clearest representatives in Irish myth of the powers of light and knowledge. In this story we can identify aspects of the nurturing mother goddess, the teacher imparting wisdom, as well as the warrior goddess who does not give up.⠀

Instagram post 17898949186398241 Lets talk about oil!⠀
⠀
There’s only one way to really benefit from an oil and that is to use oil for the final step of your skin-care routine. ⠀
⠀
If you apply oil first, any moisturiser that follows won’t be able to fully penetrate the oil barrier; it’s like applying lotion over a wet suit.⠀
⠀
Remember, oils are only the gatekeepers, not producers, of hydration, so load up on humectants first, and then pile on the oil afterward to keep moisture from escaping.

Instagram post 18080878690142792 Sunday self-care ritual.

My turn for some facial cupping with @natural_beauty_by_inna

Gently, manually sucking up sections of the face improves skin circulation, encourages lymph drainage, tones tissue that is flaccid, and relaxes tightness.
It increases the diffusion and receptivity of skin cell nutrients, stimulates collagen and elastin, and restores new skin tissue.

It is recommended to have a series of 6 to 12 weekly sessions for results to really stick but it is a great thing to do before a party because it gives you that lifted and toned look.
You can do this yourself but it is is difficult to achieve deep relaxation, a trained practitioner like myself or Inna is ideal.

Instagram post 17933761348320778 Mushroom time!⠀
⠀
I know a lot of you will glaze over at the thought of mushrooms but I will not stop singing their praises! Mushrooms are full of anti-ageing properties! ⠀
⠀
You may have seen a lot of fungi popping up recently, now is a great time to go foraging if you know what you are looking for. ⠀
I do it the easy way and take my mushrooms in an extract powder and drink as a herbal tea or add to my smoothies.⠀
You can add Reishi & Chaga to your skin directly, making it into a face mask. Take 1 teaspoon of extract powder and mix with filtered water, rose water, or your favourite face oil. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off, sit back and admire your new healthy glow. ⠀
⠀
There’s a reason mushrooms are called magic, but it is not just for their psychedelic powers. Reishi is naturally anti-ageing and packed full of anti-oxidants. ⠀
⠀
Reishi mushroom extract contains a high content of polysaccharides, that support healthy blood pressure and blood sugar, encourage a positive mood, support immune function but is also imperative for skin repair and renewal. ⠀
⠀
Reishi & Chaga help reduce skin inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles and free radical damage, while promoting cell regeneration.⠀
⠀
That is a lot of superpowers!⠀
⠀
As some of you know, I do work with @hybridherbs but I do not get paid to post, I just love to tell people about them because the business only has 4 people in it and they are the most ethical business owners I know.
